High-Speed Precision Motion for Fiber and CO₂ Laser Systems

Laser cutting and engraving machines require an exceptionally precise and stable linear motion system. In high-speed fiber laser cutting machines or CO₂ laser engraving platforms, even slight vibration or backlash can affect cut quality and contour accuracy. That’s why many top leading machine builders choose YYC’s precision-ground rack and pinion system, engineered for smooth, consistent motion under continuous operation.

YYC racks are produced mainly from carbon steel, heat-treated by laser or induction hardening to achieve a surface hardness of HRC 50–55, ensuring both wear resistance and long-term dimensional stability. For this industry, the typical module range is M1.5 to M3, often in helical tooth profiles that minimize noise while maintaining high rigidity. Each rack is manufactured to DIN 6–8 quality, with high performance of pitch error, allowing high cutting speeds with excellent level repeatability.

In a typical laser cutting machine, the X and Y axes each require between 2 to 4 meters of rack length. YYC’s precision racks ensure perfect synchronization in dual-drive systems, preventing torque imbalance during fast direction changes. Compared with ball screw systems, rack and pinion drives allow for longer strokes, higher acceleration, and easier maintenance — making them ideal for large-format sheet metal and non-metal laser cutting tables.

Through advanced grinding technology and integrated hardening control, YYC achieves superior straightness and surface finish, directly improving the smoothness of cut edges and reducing noise at high speeds. Our racks are now used worldwide by OEMs that specialize in fiber laser systems, precision engraving machines, and automated marking equipment, where consistent accuracy and reliability define competitiveness.
